Wilma Yvonne Wilburn

Wilma Yvonne (Kennedy) Wilburn, 84, of Cheat Lake, passed away at Stonerise in Morgantown on Monday, August 22, 2022.

She was born at home in Flemington, WV, on April 10, 1938, the daughter of the late Howard C. Kennedy & Mary L. Dalton Kennedy. Wilma was employed at Colshire Pajama Factory until its closure & then worked in the cafeteria at WVU Hospital until her retirement.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Carl E. ‘Sid’ Wilburn in 1993; their twin daughters Kimberly & Kay, infants in 1960; sisters, Paulette Haseleu & one brother Carl Jim Kennedy.

She is survived by her son Michael Eugene Wilburn & wife, Shelby Lynn Rice Wilburn of Morgantown; two grandsons, Nicholas (Jodi) & Dustin (Courtney); two great-grandsons, Andrew & Alexander; one great-granddaughter, Emma; brothers, Elwood ‘Peewee’ Kennedy, Warren Lee Kennedy, Roger (Erma) Kennedy; brother-in-law, Halbert Elwood (Jean) Wilburn; sisters-in-law JoAnn Weaverling & Janet Kennedy.

Wilma is also survived by her best friend of many years, Mattie Kennedy & several nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 4 PM until 8 PM & again on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with Rev. Steven Lightner officiating. Wilma will be laid to rest with her husband at the Zion Cemetery, Cheat Lake.
