William ‘Bill’ Wolfe, 87, of Morgantown, passed away on Saturday January 28, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born July 11, 1929 in Preston County a son of the late Charles Franklin Wolfe and Jessie Edna Mayfield Wolfe.
Bill was retired from Roadway Express in Baltimore, MD after 19 years of service and 10 years of service at Cumberland Coal Mines in Greene County, PA. He honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1951 – 1953. He completed his basic training in Breckenridge, KY and Berlin, Germany.
He is survived by his wife Helen Mae Casteel Wolfe of 63 years; daughter Tabitha Luckey and husband Hayward; his most precious granddaughters Heather L. Jeffrey “Duffy”, Sierra N. Ward “Goober”; one brother George of Mount Morris, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two beloved daughters Dixie Lee Cox in 1975 and Judy Lynn Rhoades in 1980; brother Richard ‘Dick’, James ‘Jim’, Garlon, Charles ‘Chuck’; sisters Hazel Riggleman, Bessie Wolfe, and Beryl Stanton.
Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday January 31, 2017 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm and again on Wednesday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am with Pastor Eldon Mayle, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with military rites conducted by WVANG Honor Guard, Camp Dawson, and Westover VFW Post 9916.
The family would like to thank WV Caring of Arthurdale and Dr. Alan Hess and his staff for all of the care and support given to Bill.
