William Otis Bill' Moran, Sr., 87, of Morgantown passed away Friday July 2, 2010 at the Sundale Nursing Home. Bill was born November 19, 1922 in Fairmont, WV son of the late Otha O. and Stella Gainor Moran. Bill lived the last few years in Morgantown. Bill graduated from East Fairmont High School, and then joined the United States Navy in 1942 and served with the Ninth Naval Construction Battalion, where he received numerous awards and decorations for his service. After his honorable discharge in 1945, Bill reenlisted for service in the Marines (Sea Bees) and served overseas during the Korean War and continued as a member of the Military Reserves until 1954. Bill worked as a Master welder for Compton Coal and Industrial Resources. He was instrumental in the production of the circular miner.' Bill was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Morgantown. Bill is survived by his daughter, Carrol Vore of Wheeling, WV; son William O. Jesse' Moran, Jr., and family of Fairmont, WV; granddaughter, Crystal Moran and great granddaughter Autumn Moran both of Wheeling, WV. Also surviving is cousin Pastor Bennie Moran and many friends of the Faith Baptist Church family. In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his former wives Betty Campbell, Jackie Flynn and Dorothy Hunt Moran. Jenkins Funeral Home Wednesday July 7, 2010 from 5-8pm and again on Thursday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor Bennie Moran officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairmont, WV with military honors conducted by Marion County Honor Guard and U.S. Department of Navy.
