William Henry Mcgee

William Henry McGee, known fondly as Bill to all who knew him, embarked on his grandest journey on December 31, 2023. He passed peacefully at the Kingwood Healthcare Center with family at his side. Born on January 21, 1928, Mr. McGee’s 95 years on this earth were a testament to the power of courage and gentleness combined.

A proud World War II veteran, Mr. McGee served his country with valor in the US Navy across the Pacific. His determined spirit was matched only by a heart that knew no bounds—a walking example of kindness in every aspect of his life. Mr. McGee was a beacon of inspiration, his life an enduring lesson that true bravery comes with an open heart. It should be noted that upon his return from the Navy in 1946, Mr. McGee finished his requirements to receive his high school diploma.

Mr. McGee was employed by FMC Corp. in Fairmont, WV. He enjoyed his family, friends, watching western shows and reading. Mr. McGee was a member of the Sabraton Baptist Church.

Mr. McGee’s legacy of love and strength lives on through his cherished daughter, Debbie Ann McGee of Star City; his devoted sons, Walter Henry McGee (Martha) of Elkins and Mark Edward McGee (Retta) of Kingwood; and his adored grandchildren, Stephanie Padfield (Matthew), Stephen McGee, Chris McGee, Dawn Sellaro, Jonathan W. McGee, Annette McGee, Katherine McGee, and Jamie Trail. His memory will also be celebrated by his numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, who continue the story he began.

As the last surviving member of his family, Mr. McGee's life was a tapestry of triumphs and a reminder to each of us that the most extraordinary lives are often those lived with simple grace. Mr. McGee journey was one of remarkable courage and gentle love, lighting the way for us all. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mae McGee and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. McGee’s request for cremation will be honored by his family. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 9 AM on Saturday January 13, 2023 at the Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home and depart for Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens Chapel at 9:30 AM, where military honors will be offered by the Mon County Honor Guard and US Navy Honor Guard, Mid-Atlantic.
