William “Bill” M. Lemley passed away at his home in the early morning on Wednesday May 17, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.
The son of the late Jesse and Dolly Lemley, he was born on October 30, 1948, in Laurel Point, WV, where he then spent his childhood. He attended George W. Phillips Elementary School, Riverside Junior High School, and University High School. He later received his GED in 1968. He served in the West Virginia Army National Guard from 1974–1980.
He worked for Consol as a Coal Miner Laborer and later as a Mainline Motorman. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local No. 5429. He retired from Consol when the mine closed, after 26 years in the coal mines.
He furthered his education and earned his Truck Mechanic/Commercial Driver's License (CDL) diploma From Diesel Tech in 1996. In 2001 he graduated from Triangle Tech with his HVAC and EPA Technician certification. He later worked at Koval Supply and Airgas, both in Morgantown. WV.
Bill is survived by his wife of 15 years, Rose Rowan Lemley; son, Jason Lemley and wife Michelle; daughter Kimberly Peters of Morgantown, WV; Stepdaughter Apryl Ross Higginbotham and husband Douglass of Waynesburg, PA; sister, Dorothy Thorngren of Centennial, CO; six grandchildren, Justin Lemley, who he raised. Travis, Kayla, & Sarah Peters of Morgantown, Kaitlin Goodwin, Kaleb Lemley, and great grandson River Goodwin of Sulligent, AL; and two step-grandchildren, Isaac Ross and Kylea Higginbotham of Waynesburg, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy Beth.
Bill enjoyed many different activities especially being outdoors. Riding his four-wheeler, mowing grass, working around his home and always making time for his dog. He was proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Monday, May 22, 2017, from 5 to 8pm and again on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 10am until the 11am service with Pastor Willard Rowan officiating. Bill will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Bill’s memory to Kidney research, the Laurel Point United Methodist Church or the Star City Christian Assembly.
The family thanks Fresenius Kidney Care and West Virginia Caring for their excellent care and kindnesses during the last few years.
