William "Billy Jack" Luther Jefferson, Jr., 71, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at the Shenandoah Center in Charles Town, WV.
Billy Jack was born on June 7, 1952 in Morgantown, WV, son to the late William "Snookie" L. Jefferson Sr. and Norma Jean (Seals) Jefferson.
Billy Jack loved spending time with those closest to him. He was a loyal fan to the WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Family gatherings were always a special time for Billy Jack, who loved to clean and cook chitlins. He was always excited for those Jefferson family Thanksgivings, knowing chitlins would be part of the feast. His kind smile was infectious.
After attending University High School, Billy Jack worked at Foodland and then Hayhurst Landscaping for many years.
Billy Jack was blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his son and his family, William "BJ" Jefferson, companion Savanah Barnett, and their children, Legend Jefferson and Blakelyn Jefferson, Morgantown, WV. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved brother Bartley Jefferson, Scottsdale, PA; adoring sister, Cynthia Proctor and her husband, Mitchell Proctor, Charles Town, WV; half-sister Vera Younger, Morgantown, WV; and long-time love of his heart, former wife Sharon Boyers (Jefferson), Morgantown, WV. Additional survivors include many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Billy Jack is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Minerva Morgan; maternal grandparents, Jack and Mazie Seals; two infant siblings, Brenda Joyce and David Lee; his brother Charles "Chuck" Jefferson and his wife, Tina Jefferson; and brother Derrick Jefferson.
Family and friends will gather at Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 11am until the time of services at 1pm with Pastor Jeremy Thomas officiating. Cremation will follow and a private interment ceremony will be held by the family at a later date.
