William ‘Bill’ Herbert Brown, 91, of Grafton, formerly of Mercer County, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020, in Grafton, WV. He was born December 28, 1928, in Oakvale, WV, a son to Rufus E. and Eula Walls Brown.
He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Mae Whitlow Brown and a brother James Brown of Clarksburg, WV; four grandchildren, Melissa (Jay) Meadows of Euless, TX, Jennifer Brown of Bedford, TX, Michelle (Rob) Angus of Grafton, WV and Stephanie (Anthony) Bayles of Smithfield, VA, and five great-grandchildren, Alec Angus, Kylie Angus, Brayden Meadows, Brenna Meadows, and William Angus.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his two children Larry Stephen Brown and Melanie Brown Dewese; two brothers, Rufus Randolph Brown and Everett Eugene Brown, and one sister Evelyn Brown French.
He retired from the Celanese Corporation of Narrows, VA, after 50 years of employment. He was also a 50 plus year member of the A.F. & A.M. John Dove Masonic Lodge No. 78 of Peterstown, WV. The only time he spent away from his employment was during his service to his country in the U.S. Army as an MP during the Korean War.
Due to the risks of COVID, a celebration for family and friends will be planned at a later date in Princeton, WV.
