Wilbur Morris Hackett, Jr, 60 of Hazelton, WV passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2016 at his home. Wilbur was born in Washington, D.C. on May 10, 1956, son of the late Wilbur and Edith Hackett, Sr.
Wilbur attended Tuskegee Institute where he completed his undergraduate studies and later completed his pharmacy degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. He founded American Pharmacy, USA in Morgantown, WV and worked as a dedicated community pharmacist until his health would no longer permit.
Wilbur was fond of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. He also enjoyed karaoke, motorcycles, restoring caars, and learning to play the guitar.
Wilbur is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cynthia D. Hackett; three sons, Wilbur M. Hackett III (Meliane) of Brockton, MA, Walter R. Hackett (Hiwot) of Springfield, VA and William A. Hackett of Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren, Warren, Wyatt, and Serena; seven siblings, Steven Gibson (Juanita), Maurice Gibson, Sylvia Young, Jonathan Gibson, Sr. (Barbara), LaWanda Hackett, Letitia Hackett, and Ira Hackett, Sr. (Betty); a host of nieces and nephews and his loyal cat, Morris.
Family and friends will be received at the Cheat Lake Community Church, 527 Tyrone Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 3pm until the time of services at 5pm with Pastor John Sommers officiating.
Wilbur will be laid to rest beside his parents at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery in Milford, VA.
