Walter Dale Stout, 91, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday March 27, 2018 at the Mon Health System Hospital. Dale was born May 8, 1926 in Morgantown son of the late Gerald G. and Lovada Burrows Stout. Dale graduated from University High School and then enlisted in the US Army and served during WWII. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Tech 5. Upon returning home from the service, Dale married Miss Margaret Tennant. Dale found work in the coal mines and moved to Glenville, WV. He and Margaret would make Glenville their home for more than 30 years. He retired from the mines and found employment with the USPS as a mail carrier until his retirement in the 80s. He returned to Morgantown in the early 90s to be near his children. Dale had a love of music and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. The family will remember Dale's great sense of humor and independent spirit. Dale was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of WV. He was Protestant by faith. Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Mrs. Margaret J. Tennant Stout of Morgantown, daughter Mary L. Copeland and companion Samuel Jacobs of Morgantown; son James D. "Jim" Stout of Glenville, WV; grandchildren Dale L. Copeland and wife Angela of Morgantown and Gary Copeland and wife Maria of Clarksburg; great grandchildren, Shanice Fowler, Fletcher Coffman and Hope Copeland. Also surviving is one sister, Geraldine Boyers of Morgantown. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Stout and sister Arvada "Bo" Stout. Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday March 31, 2018 from 3 to 7pm. Visitation will continue Monday, April 2, 2018 from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor Lee Haught officiating. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites will be conducted by the WVANG, Camp Dawson and the Westover VFW Post 9916. The family would like to thank beloved caregivers, Lee and Suszanne Haught for the sincere compassionate tender care given to Dale over the past couple of years.
