Walter Glenn Smyth, Sr.

Walter G. ‘Buster’ Smyth, Sr., 81, of Goshen Road, Morgantown, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday December 22, 2015. He was born on May 19, 1934 in Maidsville son of the late Glenn E. Smyth and Celeste Slaughter Osborne.
Buster worked as a contractor and plumber for many years in the Morgantown and surrounding areas. Buster was a Veteran of the United States Navy with four years active service and four years with the reserves. He was a member of the Fairmont VFW Post 7048.
Buster is survived by his wife Jane Hetrick Smyth, who he was married to for over 60 years; two sons, Keith Smyth of Grant Town, WV and Walter G. Smyth, Jr., of Anchorage, AL; three daughters, Cynthia Braham and husband Freddie of Morgantown, Arlene Poling and husband David of La Barge, WY and Charlene Smyth of Bridgeport and one brother Mike Wilburn of Maryland.
Also surviving are his four grandchildren Roger Braham of Morgantown and Allen Poling of Rock Springs, WY, Jackie Shipley of Rivesville and Jeremy Sakacsi of Fairview, WV; great and great-great grandchildren, John, Ceirra, Lauren, Paige, Tanner, Emily, Zoe, Jack, Kyle, Brooklyn, Rebekka and Jordann In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother Grover Smyth; sister Kathleen Jackson; granddaughter Brandi Braham and daughter-in-law Melinda Smyth.
Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 3pm until 6pm and again on Monday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor John Abersold officiating.
Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Fairmont VFW Post 7048 and the US Navy Honor Guard.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice Care Corporation for their compassionate care.
