Vivian Ruth Mcnemar

October 17, 1931 — May 7, 2025

Vivian Ruth McNemar, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on May 7, 2025, at the Morgantown home of her devoted nephew, Michael Gray. Born on October 17, 1931, in Morgantown, WV, to James and Ruby Marie Donaldson Gray, Vivian lived a life marked by her warmth, generosity, and a deep sense of kinship.

Vivian's life was one well-lived and well-loved. In her hometown, where she remained throughout her life, Vivian formed a bond with the community that was unbreakable. She was welcomed into Heaven's embrace, reuniting with her beloved parents; her husband of nearly 57 years, James Frederick 'Bud' McNemar, Sr.; cherished siblings Phyllis Gray, Eleanor and Carl Davis, and James and Eleanor Gray; and her two infant children, Frederick W. and Elwood McNemar.

Vivian's heart generously extended to her nieces and nephews, whom she regarded and cherished as her own children. She is survived by her doting nephews and nieces, Michael and Lisa Gray, Hope and Mindel McDonald, Ruby and late Larry Hertzog, Ricky and Liz Davis, Glenna and the late Carlton Davis, Ronnie and Lena Davis, Kathy Nabors, all of Morgantown, Matt and Jeanette Davis of Fairmont, Joyce and the late Richard Gibson of Bruceton Mills, James 'Bucky' and Brenda Gray, Doug and Sandy Gray of Morgantown loving step-children, Fred 'Punky' and Tina McNemar of Kingwood, WV, Sandy and Richard Balboa of Surprise, AZ;; and a multitude of great and great-great nephews and nieces, as well as step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom never doubted her love or the joy she found in their accomplishments and happiness.

Vivian's professional life reflected the same care and attention she showed in her personal relationships. A skilled seamstress, she contributed her talents to the Morgan Shirt Factory for many years before partnering with her husband in a domestic homemaker and commercial cleaning venture that spanned many successful years.

Faith was a cornerstone in Vivian's life, and she stood as the eldest surviving member of the Living by Faith Church in Morgantown, an accomplishment she held dearly. Her hands, never idle, created countless quilts and crocheted treasures, many of which graced the homes of those she loved. An avid bird watcher, Vivian also found great pleasure in her flower garden, nurturing life with the same tenderness she bestowed upon her family.

Vivian's zest for living was evident in her love for travel, a passion she shared with her husband. The celebration of their 50th anniversary was commemorated with a memorable cruise, a fitting tribute to their enduring partnership.

The legacy Vivian leaves behind is a tapestry of enduring love, steadfast faith, and the countless lives she touched. Those who knew her will remember her joyful spirit, her compassionate heart, and the unwavering strength of her love. As we bid farewell to Vivian Ruth McNemar, we celebrate a life that was truly a blessing to behold.
