Virginia Louise Sypolt

January 27, 1930 — January 31, 2020

Virginia Louise Sypolt passed away on Friday morning, January 31, 2020, at the Pine Ridge Nursing Center at the age of 90. She was born January 27, 1930, on the family farm in Albright, Beech Run Community, the only daughter of Ray and Fannie Livengood Harned.

Her father died at an early age requiring her to help with her five brothers to keep the farm going. She would marry Marvin 'Bud' Sypolt after graduating from Kingwood High School, and together they would have two children, Sandra Kay and Mark Allen.

Virginia worked as a teacher's aide at Albright Elementary, teaching the children to read, later as a cook at Preston Memorial Hospital and retired from General Paving Construction, as a parts clerk for many years and took great pride in her work. She knew more than most young ladies about what it took to keep a D-9 dozer in operation. She loved a good National Geographic nature show, and it was widely known, she was not fond of telemarketers. Her bottomless platter of fried ham and an overflowing dish of potato salad will be missed. She fretted over her always perfect graham cracker pie and catering to her guests.

Virginia was an active and faithful member of the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church in Valley Point.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Sandra Kay Jenkins and husband Robert; one son Mark Allen Sypolt and wife Carmel, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Harned and wife Julia and Dr. Max Harned and wife Regis; sisters-in-law, Erma Harned, Betty Harned, and Judy Harned. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Ray and Fannie Harned, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Marvin ‘Bud' Sypolt and her three beloved brothers, Paul, Harold, and Don Harned.

The family will receive friends at the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, Valley Point on Sunday, February 2, 2020, from 2 PM until 6 PM and again on Monday from 11 AM until time of service at 1:30 PM with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
