Virginia Galeota

Virginia R. Galeota, 81, of Morgantown, entered into rest May 21, 2015 at the Madison Center. She was born in Howesville, WV on May 25, 1933 the daughter of the late John E. and Nellie Lamar Spears. She grew up in Morgantown where she attended public schools and met her husband Bill, who preceded her in death after 58 years of marriage in 2008. She lived a full and wonderful life, but she was first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother of an extended family that was always the focus of her attention and devotion. Virginia is survived by her son William E. Galeota and wife Rebecca, daughter Cynthia S. Fowler and husband George, daughter Gloria J. Cole and husband Wesley, and Bonnie J. Shannon and Joe, all of Morgantown. She was also blessed to have nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren call her "Grandma", and she proudly watched them grow and followed their lives. She loved taking care of her home, camping, cooking for her family, traveling with Bill and anything that involved or helped her family. She spent the last few years of her life at the Madison Center in Morgantown where her loving attention and encouragement extended to other residents and staff. Her family thanks those special folks at the Madison who cared for and loved "Miss Virginia", as she loved them. Virginia will be remembered for her loving, giving spirit which never dimmed, even through her final days. Her beautiful singing voice soothed her children and grandbabies in lullabies, rose up with others in the St. Luke's church choir over many years and today joins with the angels' chorus. Family and friends will be received to honor and celebrate her life at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, May 25th from 2-4pm and again from 6-8pm. Visitation will follow Tuesday, May 26th from noon until the time of service at 1pm with Father Vincent Joseph officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
