Violet Maxine Deahl, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, at Mapleshire Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. Maxine was born on July 7, 1921, in Lowsville, WV, a daughter of the late William Martin Taylor and Lelah Stewart Taylor. Maxine was a graduate of University High School, class of 1939. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She was a member of Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Elderberries, a seniors' group. Maxine is survived by her husband of 54 years, Grant Stephen Deahl, Sr., and by two sons, Grant Stephen Deahl, Jr., and George Martin Deahl, both of Morgantown. She is also survived by a sister, Doris McCloskey, of Morgantown; and by two nieces and three nephews: Barry H. Taylor of Columbia, SC; William J. Taylor of Rock Hill, SC; Melissa June Alexander of Morgantown; William Carl Taylor, Jr., of Washington, DC; and Anne McCloskey Stanton of Morgantown. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by three brothers, Denzil, Carl, and Robert Taylor, and by a sister, Helen Taylor. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, March 7, 2011, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. and from 7:00-9:00 P.M., and again on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Sean Wightman officiating. Burial will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV.
