Viola Kay Baker, 73, of Reedsville, WV, entered into rest Friday, May 6, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Morgantown, WV on February 17, 1943 daughter of the late Carrie Bell (Chissman) and Orville David Deavers of Summer School Road.
Kay was a home maker and a devoted wife of 57 years to her husband Charles J. Baker. She enjoyed collecting nick-nacks and baby dolls. She loved all flowers and was often told she had a “green thumb” when it came to growing them.
She loved spending time boating and fishing with her family. One of Kay’s enjoyments was watching old western movies and teaching the grandchildren how to latch hook.
Her greatest passion was country music. She loved listening to the country classics and could site them off to you by name.
Kay is also survived by her two daughters Joyce K. Teets of Fellowsville and Judy Lynn Baker of Morgantown; three sons, Sam J. Baker of Florida, Charles David Baker of Morgantown, and Paul W. (Linda) Baker of Reedsville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, brothers and sisters.
In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee; her brothers and sisters; and grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, May 10th at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11am until the time of service at 1pm with Pastor Brian Kiehl officiating. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery.
