Victor Butch Shine

June 22, 1951 — March 20, 2018

C. Victor ‘Butch’ Shine, 66, of Granville passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born June 22, 1951 in Osage, son to the late Catherine Corwin and Victor Shine.

Butch worked as a public servant for many years as a police officer, serving the town of Star City, Monongalia County and later at the Moundsville State Prison. After his career as an officer, Butch drove cement truck for CMI and retired after 13 years of service. He was also a past administrator of the Morgantown Moose Lodge.

Butch loved the Steelers, NASCAR, WVU football and basketball and enjoyed all types of music including classic country and anything from the 60s and 70s.

Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Patricia ‘Patty’ Hewitt Shine; daughter Bethany Jean Shine, of Westover and her mother Susan Lowther of Morgantown; two granddaughters Keyaire Dawn ‘Kasey Mac’ Shine and Alyssa Christine ‘Pretty Girl’ Shine all of Westover; two great grandchildren, Dominic James Nicholson of Pittsburgh, PA and Victoria Marie Shine-Kittle, of Westover; step-son Brent Romec of Fort Mills, SC step grandchildren, Jordan, Marcus, Cooper and Peyton Romec.

Also surviving are five sisters; Sandra Buchanan, of Fairmont, Priscilla Croston, of Morgantown, Vicki Fox and husband Dave, of Morgantown, Kathy Jackson of Masontown, WV and Robin Dugan and husband John of Morgantown; one brother Larry Shine and wife Debra of Westover; sisters-in-law, Sharon Jackson and Cheryl James.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Paul Croston, Ronald Buchanan, Ralph Jackson and his ‘Best Bud’ Charlotte Hewitt.

Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 5 to 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer at 2pm with Pastor Richard E. Ryan officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
