Velma Whipkey

Velma Whipkey, 77 of Morgantown passed away Friday November 6, 2009 at the Mapleshire Nursing Home.She was born February 23, 1932 in Morgantown the daughter of the late Earl and Mildred Lawlis Martin. She was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed sewing and music. She was a member of the Sabraton Baptist Church and especially enjoyed church activities. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Darrell Whipkey; one son Donald Lee Whipkey and his wife Debbie of Morgantown; two daughters Charlotte Johnston and husband Kenneth of Grafton, WV and Darlene Rilko of Morgantown. Also surviving are grandchildren, Dawn Mollohan of Morgantown, Andrea Baer of Greensburg, PA, Amanda Wilson of Morgantown,Anthony Johnston of Grafton, Jean Claude Stryffeler of Morgantown and Corinn Rilko also of Morgantown; great grandchildren Justus Mollohan, Chloe Mollohan, Leslie Brown, William Geier and Trenton Baer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother Carl Martin. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral home Sunday November 8, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and again on Monday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
