Tyler Shane Leap, 41, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly after complications from a stroke on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on July 17, 1983, in Cumberland, Maryland, Tyler was known for his warmth, humor, and the love he showed to everyone around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Megan Boehmes Leap, their daughter, Vivian Roseanne, who brought so much joy and meaning to his life, and their three slightly spoiled dogs. He was a beloved son to his mother and stepfather, Cindy Leap Yoder and Richard Yoder of Hyndman, PA, and a cherished son-in-law to Richard and Diane Boehmes of Keyser, WV. He leaves behind his stepsister, Rebecca Darr, and her husband, Adam of Berlin, PA, and their son, Bentley. He will also be sadly missed by many close friends who were like family.
Tyler was preceded in death by his father, Gary D. Leap, and his younger brother, Troy D. Leap.
Tyler valued education and hard work. He began his studies at Potomac State College, where he played on the tennis team and met his future wife. He later earned his degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University. His career took him to the DC Metro area for many years before he returned to Morgantown, where he worked for Dieffenbach & Hritz.
A true Mountaineer, Tyler was a loyal WVU fan and also loved cheering on the Washington Capitals. He enjoyed smoking meat, sipping good bourbon, and working on projects around the house. He especially loved family vacations to Disney and the beach, where he found so much joy in seeing his daughter smile.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, warm hugs, his sense of humor, and his love for his family and friends. Tyler’s life touched many, and his memory will live on in those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM to support one another, reflect, and celebrate the unforgettable life of Tyler. The family chose cremation and in one final act of generosity, Tyler gave the gift of life as an organ donor. The visitation will be casual, filled with Tyler’s favorite music and the stories that made him who he was.
When making a donation, please use the following email address as the recipient on the digital form so Megan and her family will receive notification of your generosity.
