Tracy Russell McCord Jr, 88, of Pursglove, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Tracy was born in Cassville on November 8, 1934 to the late Tracy Sr. and Ermal McCord.
In addition to his parents, Tracy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn Jean McCord; brothers, Luther “Jack” McCord, Elbert (Ami) McCord, Homer McCord, and Richard “Rich” McCord; and sisters, Kathleen Reckart, Loretta Florence Keener, Erma “Bonnie” Brake, and Linda Mae McCord;
He is survived by his children, Tracy Alvin “Al” McCord, Robin Lynn (David) Adams; step-children, Maurice Reynolds, Gene Reynolds, Joyce Coblentz, Debbie Yoder, and Lori Seaburn; sister, Nora Lee Beers; grandchildren, Jackie Lynn Delong and Stacy Kay (Josh) Clayson; great-grandchildren, Na’layah, Aurora, K’vaun, Brooklynn, Tareek, and A’layna; several nieces & nephews, and lots of cousins.
After serving in the Army in Korea and holding numerous jobs, most recently as a security guard in Ohio, Tracy retired back to Monongalia County to be closer to his kids. While he wasn’t out playing the poker machines at the Westover VFW, Tracy could usually be found at home on the farm. Whether cutting wood or chasing cows, he was always keen to lend his family a hand when they needed it. Over time, he became a grandfather, and eventually a great-grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending quality time with his growing family, and his loving presence will be dearly missed by the ones he cared for the most.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday December 29, 2022 from 4pm-8pm and again on Friday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Tracy will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
