Thomas Lee River Rat' Beal, 74 of Star City, WV, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home after a long term illness. Thomas was born February 7, 1939 in Navarre, OH to the late Ralph and Emma Eberhart Beal. Thomas spent a majority of his life in public service. After moving to West Virginia, he was employed as the Chief of Police of Osage, a Star City Police officer, Monongalia County Sheriff's Department Correctional Officer, Mon County Jail administrator and private investigator. Thomas was the third member of the FOP of Monongalia and Preston Counties. Thomas was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed quiet evenings at River Front Park in Star City with close friends and grandson Christopher. Thomas is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 45 years, Georgia Ann Harris Beal of Star City; son Thomas L. Beal and wife Misti; daughters Kimberly Taylor and Dave McDonald of Morgantown and Jennifer Church of Star City; grandchildren, David DJ' Taylor, Tonya Lynn Taylor and fiancé Ryan Tennant, Christopher Church, Hollee Beal, Tommy Beal and Sydnee Beal. Also surviving is Glenn and Jeannie Beal of Morgantown and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters Sherry Nichols of Massillon, OH and Marian Moore and husband Jack of Massillon, OH; sister-in-law Carolyn Beal of Conroe, TX and brother-in-law Michael Harris and wife Debbie of Morgantown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Bill' Beal and John Jack' Beal. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Monday May 13, 2013 from 3-8pm and again Tuesday at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Star City from 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Rev. Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Honoring Thomas' wishes cremation will follow.
