Terry Wayne Lake, Jr.

Terry Wayne Lake, Jr., departed from this world unexpectedly on September 9, 2023, at the young age of 40, leaving a void that can never be filled. Born on June 5, 1983, to the late Tonja Michelle and Terry Wayne Lake, Sr., he was the youngest child, the baby of the family and without a doubt the most cherished.

Terry was man of many things; a father, a son, a brother, and a friend to all. His infectious laughter, mischievous grin and playful antics could brighten your day instantly. He was a dedicated father, whose greatest joy was spending time with his son, Mateo. He knew no stranger and his circle of friends spanned across various walks of life, and he cherished each and every one of those bonds.

Terry Wayne was a wildcard with a heart of gold, that had no regrets. And underneath that rebel without a cause act he was just a simple man who loved his family.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his sister, Tera Waynette Lake Johnson, his maternal grandparents, Conzolla and Allen Dobbs and his paternal grandparents, Bernadine Lake and James Riley.

He is survived by his children, Mateo Lake, Ean Weygandt, Brinley Gifford, and Brookleigh Gifford. His sister, Damia Dobbs and brothers Jason Dobbs and Richard Jefferson. Nieces and nephews; Jackson, Jaiden, Brenton, Janiyah, Jiovanna and Kielandra Dobbs and Elias Jefferson. As well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends.

Though our “Baby Brother” has left this world too soon, Terry’s legacy of love, laughter, and wonder will live on in our hearts. In our grief, we find solace in the knowledge that he is at peace, watching over his children from above.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm with Rev. Claudette Dale officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
