Born on June 23, 1941, in the small town of Jere, WV, she was a daughter of the late James Otis and Martha Ann Gregory Claypole. Sylvia's life was one marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for those around her. Her gentle spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sylvia spent her professional years as a dedicated housekeeper at WVU Towers, where her work ethic and warmth made her a beloved figure. Beyond her professional life, she was a devoted caregiver, providing comfort and support to family members and others through private duty care. Her selfless nature was evident in every aspect of her life, and she frequently went above and beyond to ensure the well-being of those in her care.
Family was the cornerstone of Sylvia's life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mable Dafanzo, Della Barnett, and Ruby Everly; and her brothers, Ralph and Russell Claypole. She is survived by her brother, Eugene Claypole, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will treasure their memories of her. Sylvia's presence was a source of joy and comfort in their lives, and her absence will be felt deeply.
Sylvia's interests and hobbies reflected her loving nature. She had an immense love for her dogs, who were her constant companions and brought her immeasurable joy. Her faith was also an important part of her life, as she was a devout Methodist, living her faith through her actions and the love she showed to others.
