Steve Fumich

Steve Fumich entered into rest Tuesday, August 19 a day short of 88 years old surrounded by his wife Mary and loving family. Steve was born August 20, 1926 in Pursglove to the late George and Madeline Fumich. He is survived by wife of fifty six years, Mary, two children; Walter Fumich and wife Michelle, Steven Fumich and wife Deneen. Four grandchildren; Walter M. Fumich, Racheal McCullough, Jesse Petty, and Stephen C. Fumich; two step-grandchildren, Patrick and Brianna Stalnaker; Brothers; Joseph of Grand Blanc, MI, Anthony of Westover, WV, and Edward Fumich of Huntington, WV; one sister, Mary Murphy of Barboursville, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Steve is also survived by his feline buddy, Theodore. Steve graduated from WVU with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Forestry. Steve also served in the US Navy and was a WWII Veteran of the Pacific Campaign and a Member of the VFW in Westover. He was a member of the UMWA local 1058 for ten years and retired from Humphrey Mine as a foreman. Steve was an avid golfer, gardener, and enjoyed growing Christmas trees. He also enjoyed spending time fishing and mushroom picking. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers George Jr and William Fumich. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Morgantown Hospice and Home Health Care In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Steve's memory to Animals Friends of West Virginia, 252 Brewer Rd, Morgantown, WV 26508. Friends and Family will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Thursday August 21 from 4-8pm and again Friday from 12:30pm until the time of service at 1:30pm Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
