Stanley Anthony Gacek, 84, of Granville passed away Sunday August 28, 2011 at his home. He was born January 23, 1927 in Greensboro, PA a son to the late Albert and Anna Prych Gacek. Stanley served is country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a member of Westover VFW Post 9916 and a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. He worked many years as a coal miner for Consol at Humphrey #7 mine. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman. He was also an avid Mountaineer football and basketball fan, and he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He is survived by two sons Tim Gacek and wife Annette of McClellandtown, PA, and Ronald Gacek and wife Joyce of Morgantown; four grandchildren Tyler Gacek, Zach Gacek, Brad Gacek, and Jacquelyn Gacek; three sisters Katie Pecjac, Julia Perkosky, and Rose Cox; and two brothers John Gacek and Walter Gacek. In addition to his parents Stanley was preceded in death his beloved wife Katherine Gacek, three brothers Joseph Balsega, Michael Balsega, and Frank Balsega; and a sister Mary Skoda. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Tuesday August 30, 2011 from 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church Wednesday at 10:30am with Rev. Fr. Vincent E. Joseph as celebrant. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by Westover VFW Post 9916.
