Sonny L. Penrod

Sonny L. Penrod, 74 of Morgantown, passed away on Thursday January 25, 2018 at his home. He was born February 4, 1943 in Cheat Lake a son of the late Albert and Venna Pugh Penrod. After his mother’s passing he was also raised by his step-mother, the late Wilma Penrod.

Sonny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed attending MHS and WVU sporting events, and gardening.

Sonny attended Fox Chapel Church in Mount Morris, PA for most of his life. He worked at Coca Cola Bottling Company and later retired from CONSOL Loveridge mine after 27 years of dedicated service. After his retirement he continued to work at Mountain State Auto Auction.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Audra Penrod; four children Julie Penrod Gaines and husband Adam of Frederick, MD, Heidi Russack and husband Mike of Chicago, IL, Gerald Penrod and wife Melissa, and Keith Penrod all of Morgantown; eight grandchildren Evan, Jared, Noah, Emily, Alex, Grady, Faith, and Ryker; and a sister Leona Frances Siferd of Cary, NC.

Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday January 28, 2018 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm and again on Monday from 12pm until the time of funeral services at 1pm with Rev. Robert Lowther officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
