Sonja Ruth Stimmell

Sonja Ruth Cress Stimmell, 79, of Morgantown, departed this life on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at the Sundale Nursing Home. Sonja was born on August 23, 1939 in Morgantown, WV to Denzil Allen Cress and Virginia Harriet Johnson Cress.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Denzil B. Cress, Allen B. Cress; two sisters, Nellie Young and Jacqueline Wolfe and her husband of 50 years Gaylord L. Stimmell.

Sonja is survived by one sister Ellen Hussing, three sons, Lester F. Miller, Jr. and wife Linda, Damon G. Stimmell and wife Christine and Dennis R. Stimmell, Sr., and wife Cathy; seven grandchildren, Amy, Jesse, D.J., Tommy, Ashley, Brittney and Hunter; five great-grandchildren, Kolten, Gracie, Kaylee, Jaydex and Brooklyn.

Sonja was a member of the Riverside Apostolic Church and a former cook for the Monongalia County Board of Education.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sundale Nursing home and WV Caring Hospice for all the help and care over the last five years.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-4pm & 6-8pm and again on Wednesday from noon until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Jon Henry officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. www.fredjenkinsfuneralhome.com
