Shirley A. Perkins

Shirley A. Perkins, age 70, of Morgantown, passed away October 13, 2013, at Monongalia General Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 6, 1943, in Washington, PA; a daughter of the late, Thomas William and Ruth Whitmore Campbell. Shirley was a life-long resident of Sabraton in Monongalia County and a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church in Morgantown. She was a loving homemaker and childcare giver extraordinaire. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald L. Perkins of 54 years and their children, including: Son, Allen D. Perkins; Daughter, Sherry C. Smith; (both of Morgantown); Daughter, Shelia DeLauder and husband, Patrick (of Terra Alta, WV); Brother, George Campbell and wife Linda (of Independence, WV); and six grandchildren, including: Granddaughter, Heather Perkins-Severt and husband, Dereck (of Daniels, WV); Granddaughter, Ashleigh Perkins (of Morgantown); Grandson, Dale Cantley; Grandson, Sean Cantley and wife Sarah; Grandson, Allen Perkins Jr. and significant other, Tanya Smith. She is also survived by those she considered family: Including: Cindy and Tim Weibel (of Morgantown); Carolyn Doer and husband, Rusty, and their children, Derek and Devin; Stacy Tennant and husband, Pete, and their son, Wyatt; and Garrett and Sam Richardson, and the many other children she watched over the years. Shirley was a very knowledgeable and wise woman; driven by her love of reading and learning. She was also a tremendously kindhearted and caring woman who exuded compassion toward everyone she met. Shirley was also an animal lover who poured an abundance of love, and countless hours, into caring for her two dogs, Lola and Charlie, and cat, Snowy. Shirley had a remarkable bond with husband Ronald; a bond which her family would call an example of true love, and a marriage that inspired countless others. Friends may call at Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Edward Craft officiating. Interment will follow at Mt Zion Cemetery in Masontown, WV. A luncheon will follow at 3 p.m. at Woodland United Methodist Church in Morgantown, WV.
