Shirley Yvonne Jones

Shirley Yvonne Jones, 76, of Morgantown passed away Tuesday May 7, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born September 4, 1936 in Morgantown, daughter to the late Gerald Dayton Hunt and Ella Margaret McCord Hunt. Shirley retired after 35 years of service from WVU Hospital as an admissions clerk pager. She was Christian by faith and had many hobbies and interests. One of her favorite things to do was to gather with her neighbors and discuss the day's events. She also was an avid sports fan. She loved the Mountaineers, watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events and thoroughly enjoyed watching Tiger Woods play golf. Shirley loved to visit yard sales, play bingo, travel to Myrtle Beach on family vacations and bus tours. She is survived by her three children, son, Jackie R. Jones, Jr. and wife Vanessa of Fairmont, WV; daughter, Sharon Sherry' Y. Hershman and husband Baretta of Morgantown and son David J. Joe' Jones and wife Teressa of Morgantown; grandchildren, Jeffery Allen Jones and wife Angel of Summersville, WV, Shadona Y. Tennant and fiancé Jeffrey Calvert of Core, WV, Landon L. Ellifritz of Morgantown, Kadin J. McClurg and Madison P. McClurg both of Morgantown and one on the way; great grandchildren Olivia and Jackson, Haley, Abigale, Jessica and Emily. Also surviving is one sister, Nancy Bowser of Granville; one brother Gerald Joe' Hunt and wife Joann of New Hill, WV and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday May 9, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and again on Friday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Honoring Shirley's wishes cremation will follow.
