Shirley Ann Hlad

Beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, Shirley Ann Hlad, 89, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Evergreen Assisted Living Center. She was born October 3, 1935, in Cassville, WV a daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Wallace Hlad.

Shirley worked for Monongalia County Schools for many years. She was a member of the Lions Club, and Catholic by faith.

She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Jane Ferrise and Mary Sue Hlad of Morgantown; nephews and nieces Kenneth Miller, II of Morgantown, David Miller and wife Gail of Spring, TX, Natalie Ferrise Busch and husband Wesley of Madison, VA, Anthony James Ferrise of Alexandria, VA, Patrick William Ferrise of Baltimore, MD, Vicki Vaughn and husband Jim of Marietta, OH, Fred Hlad, III and wife Rebecca of Wheeling, WV, Alan Hlad and wife Laurie of Akron, OH, Doug Hlad and wife Lisa of Wheeling, WV; great nieces and nephews Abby Foote and husband Jake, Haley Cottrill and husband Ethan, Benjamin Wesley Busch; and cousin Louis Hlad. Shirley is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Fred Hlad, Jr., Alfred Hlad; sisters Pauline Murphy, Nellie Jean Miller, and a special friend Dr. Patrick Julius.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living, for all the care and support given to Shirley over the years.

Family and friends are invited to gather and Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 12 pm. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Chapel of Tranquility Mausoleum.
