Shirley Eloise Forbes

Shirley Eloise Forbes passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in St. Petersburg, FL at the age of 82.

She was born on February 9th, 1942 and raised in the Pursglove, WV community. She was the eldest daughter of 8 children born to George and Leila McDilda.

Shirley was married to Jack Eugene Forbes for 62 years. They made Star City their family home for over 55 years and enjoyed the last several years in St. Petersburg, FL. Jack passed on October 20th, 2023.

Shirley was a loyal West Virginia University sports fan. She also enjoyed traveling inside and outside of the US to golf events with her husband Jack. She supported the community and local sports teams through her custom monogramming business. As a proud graduate of University High School, she planned her class reunions for many years. Shirley was a proud mother, Nana, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy and Ted Raquet of St. Petersburg, FL and Lori and AJ Boechler of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Tyler and Kaitlyn Raquet, Erin and Andrew Szambelan, Madison and Kyle Hoffman, and Mitchell Boechler; and great-grandson, Weston Forbes Raquet.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10AM until the time of service at 12PM. Shirely will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Garden’s Chapel of Tranquility Mausoleum.
