Sandra Ruth Pixler, affectionately known as "Guppy" by many who knew her, a lifelong resident of Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the age of 86.
A proud graduate of West Virginia University, Sandra dedicated her life to caring for others. She spent many years as a registered nurse at WVU/Ruby Memorial Hospital, offering skillful and compassionate care to her patients. Later in life, she continued her calling as a hospice nurse, providing comfort and support to individuals and their families during their most difficult times.
She is survived by her son, Jim Pixler, and his wife, Theresa; her daughter, Susan Edgar, and her husband, Mark; and her cherished grandchildren, Audrey Pixler, Kristyn Bowders, and Sarah Edgar, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, James Reed and Frances Reed (White), as well as her brothers, Michael and Frederick Reed.
She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—cheering on the Mountaineers and Steelers, solving crossword puzzles, watching Blue Bloods, and bird-watching. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jaworski and the staff at Mon General for their compassionate care, as well as to Brooklyn, Destany, and Lori at Harmony, whose kindness and support meant so much in her final days.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. In accordance with her wishes, Sandra will be cremated following the service
