Russell Earl Morris, Jr.

On June 20, 2012, our beloved Dad, Russell Earl Morris, Jr., 82 of Little Falls Road, Morgantown was invited by our Heavenly Father to join his loving wife in Heaven. He passed away Wednesday June 20, 2012 at the Monongalia General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Russell was born October 11, 1929 in Pursglove, WV son to the late Russell E. Morris, Sr. and Hazel Roseanna Flowers Morris. Russell worked as a coal miner for nearly 30 years and retired from Humphrey No. 7 in 1994. Jobs he held before his coal mining career included work at slaughter house in 1944 before working a year at Sterling Faucet in Morgantown. He then worked at a Steel Mill in Pittsburgh from 1950 to 1953, before returning to Sterling Faucet from 1955 to 1967. Russell is survived by his daughters, Mary Jane Carter and husband Jesse of Clarksburg, Barbara Lou Prater and husband Dale of Morgantown, Donna Joyce Morris of Morgantown, Hazel Roseanna Pugh and husband Deane of Columbus, OH and Becky Jean Hinzman and husband David of Morgantown; one son George Harold Morris of Morgantown; grandchildren, Dale Spradley, Michelle Klein, Junior Prater, Christina Brant, Gary Smith, William Pugh and Joshua Pugh. Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren. Russell was the last remaining member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents Russell was preceded in death by his wife Rose Morris; one son Russell Rusty' Morris, III; two brothers Charles Morris and Harold Morris and one sister Margaret Offutt. The family would like express their thanks Dr. Sauders, Dr. Heiskell and the 'special ' nurses and aides on the oncology floor that took care of our dad as if he was a member of their own family. Special thanks to his daughter Donna for the six years of care she gave our dad at home and daughter Becky who assisted in our dad's care. Thanks to the pastor, his wife and the ladies of Calvary United Methodist Church of Clarksburg. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday June 25, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Tuesday from noon until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Rod Heckert officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Fairmont, WV.
