Ruel Duane Hughes

Ruel (Duane) Hughes, beloved husband of 47 years to Mary Catherine Holbert Hughes of Maidsville passed away Monday September 13, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with ALS. He was born January 17, 1942 in Sutton, WV son of the late Rual Hughes and Edna Rose Hughes. Duane was a 1961 graduate of University High School and Methodist by faith. In his younger years Duane loved to hunt, fish and ride his four-wheeler. Recently he loved to feed the birds, deer and squirrel that came into the yard. In addition to his wife Mary, Duane is survived by his four children; sons Jerry Hughes of Maidsville, Timothy Hughes and wife Debbie of Nemacolin, PA; daughters Cathy and husband Pastor Gale Cobb of Maidsville and Christina Hughes and special friend Kevin Groden of Morgantown; grandchildren Elizabeth and Logan Cobb of Maidsville and Heather and Hannah Hughes of Nemacolin, PA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and one special great nephew Justin Holbert of Mt. Morris, PA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Keith Michael Hughes. The family would like to extend a special thanks to TLC Hospice and Senior Mon Aides, one special aide Sherri Smerka who was very devoted to his care. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Wednesday September 15, 2010 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Thursday from 1pm until time of services at 1:30pm with Pastor Gale Cobb officiating.
