Roy A. Williamson

Roy A. Williamson, 73 of Morgantown passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born on February 1, 1938 in Morgantown the son of the late Kenneth Eugene Williamson and Elva Marie Glover Williamson. Roy was a 1955 graduate of Morgantown High School, a member of the MHS Marching band. He attended WVU and was a member of the WVU Marching and Pep band .He was on the ROTC Rifle team at WVU. He served in the United States Army reserve and was discharged in 1966 from the 354th Ordinance Company. Roy worked at WVU, where he was a 35 year employee in various departments including Animal Veterinary Science, Dairy Science, Orthopedic Surgery and Bio Chemistry Departments. He also worked as a ticket taker for WVU football games and events for 27 years, and 21 years as a ticket taker for WVU basketball games. He was a member of the Independent Hunting Club, past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, member of FODC, past member of Trout Unlimited and he was an avid hunter, camper and fisherman. He is survived by his four children Debra Louise Williamson Saunders and her spouse Joseph Saunders of Morgantown, son Mark Allen Williamson of Hillsboro,WV, daughter Donna Rae Williamson of Morgantown and daughter Traci Lynn Aberegg of Morgantown. Also surviving are his 5 grandchildren Stefanie Marie Rutschilling of New Mexico, Ross Allen Slovak of Morgantown, Mark Allen Williamson l l of Hillsboro, WV, Morgan Amberly Williamson of Hillsboro,WV and Lindsey Rae Aberegg of Morgantown and one great grandchild Joleena Rose Rutshcilling of New Mexico. His pride and joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He attended all his children's sporting events and later in life his grandchildren's. He was a loyal and loving father and husband and never missed any of his children and grandchildren's games. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time outdoors and band events. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years Edwina L. Matthews Williamson. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Sunday from 1pm until the time of services at 2pm with Pastor Scott Whetzel officiating. Burial will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 9916 and WVANG Camp Dawson.
