Roy Allen Moore, 76, of Morgantown, WV, entered his Heavenly home on November 5, 2025.
Allen was born on February 17, 1949, to Roy and Dorothy Moore. He grew up in Mt. Morris, PA, with his 4 siblings. Many memories were made with his family working in the hayfield, walking through the woods, camping with his brothers by the waterfalls, catching catfish out of the pond, and swimming in Dunkard Creek.
At the age of 18, Allen was drafted to serve his country. He spent 2 years on guard duty in Germany, holding the rank of Spec 4. From his teenage years, he had a passion for classic hot rods and drag racing. That passion led to being the proud owner of a ’69 Roadrunner, ’69 AMX, a ’37 Oldsmobile, and a super-fast ’64 Ford Falcon Ranchero.
Allen held jobs within the realm of skilled labor and auto mechanics. He retired at the age of 62 from the custodial department at WVU.
His love of the outdoors continued, camping at Fortney’s Mill with the love of his life, Jody. In later years, they spent time riding their scooters along the rail trails. Laughing with his family, vacationing at Deep Creek Lake, and playing a good round of poker were some of his best times. He had a quick wit, a tender heart, a love for home-cooked meals, and a willingness to lend a hand where needed.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy Moore, and brothers Arthur and Richard Moore.
He is survived by his soulmate, Jody Deavers; sisters Lora Henderson and Linda Mankey; daughters Janie Phillips and Sharon Moore; stepdaughter Kelly Denis, who loved him as a father; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who have fond memories of listening to their uncle tell stories of his childhood antics.
In keeping with Allen’s wishes, no service will be held. Cremation services will be provided by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.
