Rose Marie Darnell

Rose Marie Deavers Darnell, a lifelong resident of Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on January 24, 1936, to Harold L. and Margaret A. Deavers, Rose was a cherished sister, devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother.

Rose's life was one of dedication and love, notably exemplified in her 54-year marriage to her late husband, Adam “Boney” Darnell. Through this union, she was blessed with a large and vibrant family. Her nurturing spirit shone brightest through her role as a homemaker, raising six children: Margaret Marie Richards (Jerry), Harold "Red" Darnell (Kathy), Kenneth Darnell, Mary E. Strosnider (Jack), L. Rick Darnell (Elaine), and Barbara Geary. Rose's legacy further blossoms in her adored 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her values and love.

With her passing, Rose rejoins her parents, her husband, her son-in-law James Geary, and siblings Richard "Dick" Deavers, Mary Mollard, Patrica Gardner, Laura Darnell, Virginia Bennett, and Joyce White. Her love continues to echo through her extended family of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.

Rose's zest for life was contagious and could be found in her enthusiasm for simple pleasures such as Bingo nights and gun bashes. She was a regular at Mario's Fishbowl, where she shared drinks and laughter with friends and family.
