Ronald Lee Perkins of Morgantown passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on June 19, 2016 at Mon General Hospital, while surrounded by family. Ronald was born April 9, 1938, in Arthurdale, WV a son of the late Charles Luther Perkins and Mary Lena Hall Perkins.
He proudly served his country in the US Army and then went to work at Davis & Lynch Glass Company, where he worked in various positions for thirty-eight years until his retirement. Ronald was also known as a joyous person, who was quick to smile and was beloved by those who called him husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is survived by three children; Allen Perkins, Sherry Smith, (both of Morgantown), and Shelia (Pat) DeLauder of Terra Alta. Five grandchildren; Heather (Dereck) Severt, R. Dale Cantley II, Allen (Tanya) Perkins Jr, Ashleigh Perkins, all of Morgantown and Sean (Sarah) Cantley of Fort Riley, Kansas. Two step grandchildren; Anthony (Leah) DeLauder of Aurora, Joseph (Mary) DeLauder of Boca Raton, FL. Two great grandchildren; Alina Severt and Annabel Cantley. Five step great grandchildren; Hunter, Abigail, Cole, Miles and Oliver. Two sisters; Jane Elizabeth Perkins of Danielson, CT and Karen Sue Perkins of Lexington, KY and numerous nieces and nephews. Very special friends; Cindy Weibel and son Timothy whom were considered family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Ann (Campbell) Perkins and two brothers, Joseph Charles Perkins Sr. and Gerald Luther Perkins.
Friends may call at the Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22nd with funeral on Thursday, June 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home with Rev. Janice Smith officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Masontown with military honors.
