God opened His arms and received into His kingdom Robert L. Martin Sr., a true lover of God, on Dec. 24, 2010, just one day before his 101st birthday. He was born to Lawrence and Annie Martin on Dec. 25, 1909, one of 12 siblings, of which two now remain. Of the 12, eight were girls and four were boys. The two remaining siblings are sisters Mary Grimm of Warren, OH, and Lorraine Smith of Highland, IL. Mr. Martin is survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Morgantown, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of the Apostolic Church in Sabraton. We will all miss his playing of hymns on his harmonica and his sense of humor. He was a veteran of World War II, with the rank of master sergeant. He worked for many years at DuPont in Morgantown and in Pittsburgh. In later years, he was a mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Martin, and son, Robert Martin Jr. Friends may call at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Services will be held at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, with Pastor Jeffrey Street officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Pentress. A special "Thank you" to the staff of the Golden LivingCenter for their excellent care.
