Robert Dale Martin

Robert D. Martin, 55, of Morgantown, WV passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Mon General Hospital, Morgantown, WV following a short illness. The son of Lou Vernia Reed Robinson of Morgantown and the late Herbert A. Martin, he was born April 30, 1959 in Morgantown, WV. Robert was a 1977 graduate of Morgantown High School and relocated shortly thereafter to the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. While in Texas, he managed several large family restaurants and ran a residential cleaning business before returning to Morgantown in 2009. Robert loved his four dogs; Lucky, Bruno, Rocky, and Nick; photographing family get-togethers and special occasions. In addition to his mother Lou Vernia and step-father Walter Robinson, he is survived by three brothers; Herbert Martin Jr. and companion Maria Szonyi and David Martin, both of Westover; brother Paul and his wife Michelle of Morgantown; four sisters; Nancy Lapoe and husband Mark of Core, WV; Karen Ambrose and her husband Robert, of Cassville, WV; Dianna Martin Hall and companion Kip Kennedy of Logan, WV, Cathy Gunter and husband Emanual of Las Vegas, NV; special nieces and nephews and best friend Nazario Cadena of Denton, TX. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and nephew, Chad Allan Martin. Robert will be remembered as a kind man with a fun-loving spirit. He was dearly loved by all who were part of his life. Family and friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Friday, February 27, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 and again on Saturday February 28, 2015 from noon until the time of service at 1pm with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at the Granville Firehouse in Osage immediately following graveside ceremonies. The family would like to thank the staff at Mon General Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room for their compassionate and professional care during Robert's hospitalization. His doctors and nurses are truly the best in their fields.
