Robert Dean Bowsher

February 24, 1927 — September 22, 2011

Robert Dean Bowsher, 84 of Snake Hill Road passed away Thursday September 22, 2011 at the Monongalia General Hospital. Robert was born February 24, 1927 in Morgantown son to the late Thomas R. and Carrie Casteel Bowsher. Robert left high school to work for the railroad and then later enlisted in the US Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Robert received his high school diploma and went to work for the Christopher Coal Company, later known as the Pursglove 15. He continued there for nearly 15 years until an accident required him to leave the coal mines. He graduated from Barber College and worked as a barber from 1958 and retired in 1995. Robert held memberships in the UMWA and the Morgantown VFW Post 548. He loved spending time outdoors at his camp in Big Bear Lake. Robert is survived by his wife Annette M. Bowsher; two sons Robert O. Bowsher and wife Cathy and Randy L. Bowsher and wife Tammy Lynn all of Morgantown; step daughters Doris and husband Steve and Dona and husband David all of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Ann Bowsher; brothers, Eugene and Ray and sisters, Frances, Sis and Margaret. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Monday Sept. 26, 2011 from 2pm until time of services at 3pm. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
