Rilla Ann Smith

Rilla Ann Smith, 79, of Morgantown, passed away Monday October 12, 2020 at her home. She was born December 19, 1940 in Fairview, WV a daughter of the late Josepheus ‘Buck’ and Helen Gump Henderson.

Rilla was employed by the Monongalia County Clerk’s Office for many years. She was Baptist by faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends especially her stuffed peppers and pineapple upside down cake.

She is survived by her children William E. ‘Bill’ Smith, David Lee Smith, Jr. and wife Lora, Debra Sue Jenkins and husband Tim, Joseph Franklin Smith and wife Anna, and Erica Dawn King and husband Josh; 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren with two additional great grandchildren on the way; four brothers and one sister.

In addition to her parents, Rilla was preceded in death by her husband David Lee Smith.

Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday October 14, 2020 from 4-8pm and again on Thursday from 10am until the time of funeral service at 11am with Pastor Damon Nicholson officiating. Rilla will be laid to rest, beside her husband, at Hagans Cemetery.
