Richard Kelly ‘Rich’ Holbert, 50, of Maidsville, passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Rich fought a hard battle against Pancreatic cancer and is now at peace.
Rich was born December 26, 1967 son to Jerry L. and Nancy Kelly Holbert of Maidsville. Rich worked as a professional welder for more than 30 years, most of which while living in Cocoa Beach Florida, where he called home for 20 years. He contracted for various businesses and companies including The Kennedy Space Center and Disney, while traveling across the state of Florida. His skill as a welder was well known all over the state.
When not donning a welder’s mask, he would most likely be found outdoors. He was an avid bow hunter and loved to fish. He also enjoyed time on the water boating the rivers and lakes all across Florida. He recently returned home to West Virginia and worked at Holbert Metal Works.
In addition to his parents, Rich is survived by his sister, Brandy Kline and husband Shawn of Fairmont; longtime girlfriend, Paula Lewis of Mt. Morris, PA; and aunts and uncles, Karen and David Shaffer of Westover, Jim and Connie Holbert of Dilliner, PA and Jodie Brock and Terry Summers of Fairmont. Also surviving are cousins Jeff Shaffer of King George Va., Lori Shaffer of Vail Colorado and Michelle Hurley of Mt. Morris Pa. and many Friends.
To honor Rich’s love of nature and simple approach to life, a scattering ceremony will be held at the home of Jerry and Nancy Holbert on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 12 noon.
Please consider a donation to honor Rich’s memory to the American Legion of Mt. Morris 319 Mt Morris Rd, Mt Morris, PA 15349. Include Rich’s name in the memo line.
