Rev. Charles E. Morgan, Jr.

Rev. Charles Edward Morgan, Jr., 83, of Morgantown entered into the glory of his Lord on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his home. Charles was born March 23, 1934 in Morgantown, son, to the late Charles E. Morgan, Sr., and Lilly Mae Carpenter Morgan.

Charles graduated from Monongalia High School and then graduated from Storer College in Harpers Ferry, WV, where he lettered in track, basketball and football. He then enlisted into the US Air Force and later retired from General Electric with more than 35 years of service.

Charles was a minister for 35 years at the First Baptist Church, Smock, PA and a deacon at the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Charles was kind hearted, meek and humble. He was well respected in his community and will be missed by so many. He was also faithful to the Fellowship Mission Church, of Grafton and the YWBA.

Charles is survived by his close companion, Dolly Smith and her daughter, Savannah; son, Robert Chip Williams; close friend and neighbor, Michael Cranford, all of Morgantown; sisters-in-law, B. J. Pryor of Morgantown and Jessie Younger of Tampa, FL; brother-in-law, Gilbert Hamilton of Gulf Port, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the Rev. Mary Elizabeth Morgan; step-mother, Minerva Morgan; one brother William Luther Jefferson and sister, Curly Mae Wilson.

Friends and family will receive visitors on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 6-8pm and again on Saturday from 11am until his service of Homegoing at 12noon with Revs. Claude Mitchell and Claudette Dale officiating. He will be laid to rest at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
