Rev. Robert Glen ‘Bob’ Fox, 87, of Mount Morris, PA, passed away on Saturday June 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born February 19, 1929 in Core, WV a son of the late James Frederick ‘Fred’ Fox and Lois Marie Core Fox.
He served his country from 1953 until 1961 in the U.S. Army. He was a field artillery man and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.
Rev. Fox was ordained into the ministry in 1965. He started Fox Chapel in Mount Morris, PA in 1965 at the old Free Soil Elementary School. On June 18, 1969 he held his first service in a new Fox Chapel and continued to minister for over 40 years.
He retired from CONSOL Coal Company after over 40 years of service. During his time in the mines he was a member of the Mine Rescue Team.
Rev. Fox enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters Susan Lowther of Morgantown, Paula Wade and husband Hershal of Mount Morris, PA; three sons Mike Fox and wife Kathy of Scottsville, VA, Roger Fox and wife Sherry of Mount Morris, Burl Fox and wife Debra of Morgantown; a sister Marlyn Kennedy of Mount Morris, PA; his fiancé Margaret Gamble, who brought him joy and happiness in his later years; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Jean Fox; his second wife Mary Fox; and a granddaughter Heather Fox.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Amedysis Hospice of Masontown, PA for all of the wonderful loving care given to Rev. Fox, and to Cathy Horner and Pam Gamble for all of their care and support.
Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday June 21, 2016 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am with Rev. Bobby Lowther officiating and Rev. John Jackson and Rev. Willard Rowan assisting. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mount Morris, PA with military rites conducted by WVANG Honor Guard, Camp Dawson Kingwood, WV and Westover VFW Post 9916.
