Ralph Willard Cook

Ralph Willard Cook, 93, passed away at home Saturday morning, December 8, 2012. Ralph was born February 20, 1919 in Kingwood, WV a son of William Earl and Ethel Frances (Adams) Cook. Ralph was employed as a mechanic over the years at Jamison Automotive, Morgantown Transfer and Storage, Davidson Brothers garage, and self-employed as a mechanic. Ralph later owned and operated R & L Lamp Company for many years in Star City before retiring. Ralph was a faithful member of Star City United Methodist Church. He was proud of his fifteen years of perfect attendance in Sunday school. He read his Bible everyday, wearing out the pages of several over the years. Ralph is survived by his spouse of 73 years, Stella J. Edmond Cook, daughter Donna Jean Cook Goodwin and husband Larry of Morgantown, grandchildren Douglas Aaron Goodwin and wife Beth (Porter) of Morgantown, Mark Alan Goodwin of Frederick, MD and Jeffrey Andrew Goodwin and wife Kristi (Channel) of Morgantown. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Tobias Logan, Hunter Drew and Levi Cooper Goodwin of Morgantown, Deatria Latonya Gaddy-Goodwin of Baltimore, MD and Christian Elijah Goodwin of North Carolina. He is also survived by nieces Susan Cook, Glenna Davis, Diana Lawson, Ruth Murray and Emma Luzader and nephews Ralph Eugene Cook and William Glenn Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glenn William Cook. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Sunday December 9, 2012 from 3-7pm and again Monday from 4-8pm. Visitation will also be held Tuesday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am at Suncrest United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the general budget of Suncrest United Methodist Church, 479 Van Voorhis Rd, Morgantown, WV 26505.
