Phylis Marie Grimes

Phylis Marie ‘Pee Wee’ Grimes, 75, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Mon Health Medical Center. She was born February 26, 1947 in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Ray and Rosie Dalton Murray.

Pee Wee enjoyed watching her TV game shows, talking on the phone, but most of all loved spending time with her family. She was a member of God’s Family Bible Church and Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons Jerry Grimes, Jr. and wife Barbie and Cathy Pierce, Dayton Grimes and wife Charlotte; grandson Parker Grimes, who was like a son, and wife Carrie; daughter-in-law Kim Grimes; sisters Leona Dalton and husband Curt, Ruby Sanders; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Pee Wee is also survived by her oldest and dearest friend Linda Ridgeway, niece Brenda Gray, and her canine companion Harvey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Grimes; son Billy Grimes; brothers Robert Murray, Russell Murray, Donald Murray; sisters Dolly Mercer, Laura Hagedorn; grandson Jerry Lee Grimes, III; and great-granddaughter Emmaleigh Grimes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Curtis Dalton for all of the help and support that he has given to Pee Wee over the years.

The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm with Pastor Donna Dalton and Kathy Dalton officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
