World War II Army Veteran, Peter John ‘Pete’ Rosati, Sr., 96, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg. Peter was born in Howesville, WV, Preston County on January 21, 1925, son to Dominic and Mary Carfagna Rosati. Pete was a graduate of MHS class of 1943. Shortly after graduating from high school, Peter enlisted into the United States Army with the 383rd Infantry Regiment. Peter participated in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre in the New Guinea and Southern Philippines Liberation. During his enlistment, Peter received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars; Philippine Liberation with one bronze star and the Victory Medal World War II, Bronze Arrowhead only to name a few. He would be honorably discharged in 1946 and return to Morgantown and work at the WVU Physical Plant until his retirement. During his retirement, Pete loved to coach youth baseball. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida, fishing, and boating. When Pete wasn’t helping his son with a project, he could be found at one of his favorite places, his farm in Preston County. Pete is survived by his daughter-in-law, Debora Rosati of Florida; his grandson Timothy Rosati and wife Kim of Masontown and his great granddaughter Liliana Rosati. Pete was welcomed to Heaven by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Louise Massullo Rosati and son David Lee Rosati. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM. Pete will lie in repose at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Star City on Friday from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at the St. Mary Peace Garden Mausoleum. Military rites will be conducted by the Westover & Morgantown VFW Posts; VVA Chapter 306 & the WVANG, Kingwood.
