Pete Marano, 87, of Star City, passed away Friday March 8, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born February 7, 1926 in Star City a son to the late Sam and Mary Bassille Marano. Pete served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He worked many years at West Virginia University as a custodian in the Physical Plant. He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Star City. Pete enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and fishing. Pete is survived by a son Paul Marano and wife Victoria of Westover; two daughters Patricia Shriver of Cassville, Rosemary Linn and husband Gordon of Fairmont; seven grandchildren Tonya, Ronnie, Brian, Christopher, Julie, Renee, Vincent; two step-grandchildren Betsy Linn and Stephanie Shears; 11 great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Herrington Marano; son Pete Marano; daughter-in-law Carolyn Marano; son-in-law Ron Shriver; granddaughter Michelle; seven brothers and three sisters. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Tuesday March 12, 2013 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church at 11am with Rev. Fr. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
