Peggy Ann (Claypool) Barney was born on August 2, 1948, in Montgomery, West Virginia. She passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at home surrounded by her family in Pauls Valley, OK. Peggy grew up in Kettering, OH. She went to High School and college and began her career as a secretary in Dayton, OH. She was an active and devoted member of the Church of God in Springfield, OH during that time. Peggy met her husband Dan when both were employed at Chemineer in Dayton, OH. They were married on December 2, 1978. After their marriage, Peggy devoted her life to raising their two children, Lisa (Barney) Keen, and Laura (Barney) Helsing, and to her commitment to her church. She enjoyed teaching young people and participating in music programs. Her children remember her love of playing the piano.

One of her biggest joys in life was spending time with her family and four grandchildren. She enjoyed many trips to the family lakehouse in West Virginia, watching the kids swim, and traveling with her family.

Peggy was diagnosed 5 years ago with cholangiocarcinoma with only a few months to live. The family appreciates the contributions of all of her medical providers including doctors Kim and Susan Jones and the doctors and staff at MD Anderson and Stephenson Cancer Center who were able to provide many life-sustaining treatments. She fought hard to stay with her family and was able to enjoy a full life since this time including the birth of her first grandson and many trips for birthdays and travel. She was active as a volunteer mentor to other patients diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma. She enjoyed providing support and hope to other patients battling this disease.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Bantz and Lottie Claypool.
