Pearl Franklin Langdon,
89, passed into the arms of his Lord on March 29, 2017. Pearl was born on June 4, 1927 in Glenwood, WV to the late Charles Edgar and Rosa May Venoy Langdon. He served in the United States Army Air Forces from 1946 to 1948. He was stationed on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands and participated in Operation Crossroads. He conducted weather reconnaissance. Following his service, he attended West Virginia University. He worked for the Department of Energy for many years and made significant contributions to research initiatives.
His most cherished time was spent in ministry to nursing home residents in the Morgantown area. He spent nearly every Sunday afternoon for almost forty years singing, playing guitar, and praying for the elderly. He was a faithful member of Gideon’s International. He was a longstanding member of the Morgantown Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and later, attended First Baptist Church of Dunkard nearer to his home in Mount Morris, PA.
He is survived by two sons, Daniel Langdon and his wife, Dottie of Morgantown, and Earl Langdon of Mount Clare; three granddaughters of whom he was very proud, Katherine Mathes and spouse Clayton of Roseville, CA, Christine Feathers and spouse, Adam of Independence, and Corialise Langdon and fiancé Will Pence of Woodstock, VA; four great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Aurora of Roseville, CA and Ainsley and Claire of Independence. Additionally, he is survived by a brother Harvey Langdon of Point Pleasant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alta Nell Mitchell Langdon and three brothers, James Langdon of Point Pleasant, Woodrow Langdon of Ross, OH, and Lee Langdon of Milton.
The family will celebrate his life at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11am at Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 308 Elmhurst St, Morgantown. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Gideon’s International at www.gideons.org or through the local chapter.
